Over Christmas 2019, Max and I traveled to the brand new Hyatt Centric in Hong Kong as our stopover for the Maldives. We were really excited that Hong Kong Airlines changed our flight several times and gave us the opportunity to spend an extra night in Hong Kong. We booked the Hyatt Centric one-bedroom suite on Hyatt points and were blown away by the style, service and lounge. Located in the up and coming Victoria Harbour/North Point area, the Hyatt is a central stop in Hong Kong, just outside the hustle and bustle of Central. We’re going to break down each category as usual!

We booked a Suite and were therefore able to check into the Victoria Harbour Lounge, the club-level experience at the Centric. Upon arrival, we were escorted straight to the lounge by a wonderful bellman. Since we arrived with a few minutes to spare on the dinner service, the staff ushered us to sit down with a glass of champagne and made sure we got full plates of food while they checked us in. It was an overall wonderful experience to be treated so well after a long flight from the US on a bankrupt airline.

After checking in and eating a quick dinner, the staff took us to our suite, where they surprised us by decorating our bed with balloons and fake rose petals. They took great care of us! As a reminder, if you have any special occasions at any hotel, be sure to let the staff know so they can surprise you with sweet treats or decorations upon arrival :).

The rooms are certainly on the small side, as typical for many city hotels that are newer, so if you can swing it with the points or cash, I’d recommend the upgrade if you plan to stay for a few nights. I can imagine the room would be quite cramped with full size luggage and two people in the standard rooms. The showers are incredible, massive rainshowers with wonderful products.

We were here before COVID-19 and therefore the toiletries were served in reusable containers (not sure what the standard is there now). The facilities are exceptional: the rooftop pool, full gym and spa locker-rooms are sure to impress any guest. They even offer VR workout equipment.
