With 10 restaurants, a department store, spa and pool, Four Seasons Nile Plaza makes for a fantastic starting or ending point on a trip in Egypt. The property offers 366 guest rooms and suites of varying quality in the heart of Cairo with a number of their newly renovated Premium Rooms affording spectacular views of the Nile from private terraces. Read on to find out everything you need to know before you book the Four Seasons Nile Plaza.

Location: 5/5

The Four Seasons Nile Plaza is located 30-40 minutes from the airport along the banks of the Nile in a very walkable neighborhood. Within minutes of the hotel, you will find dozens of hotels and restaurants as well as endless shopping and markets. Guests can even rent Feluccas just across the street from the hotel to take a sunset cruise along the Nile for around $20.

The property is also about 30 minutes from the Giza pyramid complex, making it a relatively easy experience to tour the famous pyramids. Museums are abundant in Cairo and easy to access from the hotel.

Lobby & Check in experience: 4/5

The lobby of the Four Seasons is elegantly appointed, with tall ceilings and a full bar and restaurant to the left when you arrive. There is also direct access to a department store at the back of the lobby as well as a small sundries shop.

Check in was efficient and vaguely corporate feeling, lacking welcome drinks or a particularly warm welcome which we have become accustomed to with the Four Seasons brand. That being said, we were booked here through our Uniworld cruise and we were able to upgrade to a Premium renovated Nile View room with a balcony easily and relatively inexpensively at $100 per night which was a great option. If you are booked here via a tour or cruise, be sure to ask on check in for upgrade options as you will likely be booked into their lowest tier rooms and the upgraded rooms are 100% worth it.

Rooms: 4.5/5

There is a selection of rooms as of early 2025 that are renovated both on Nile and Citadel side of the building. They are classified as “Premium” rooms and are completely renovated to be absolutely stunning- with light coastal tones, elegant furnishing and beautiful lighting. We upgraded to a Premium Nile View which comes with a furnished balcony to enjoy the stunning Egyptian sunsets in the evenings. The bathroom is grand and luxurious, with double vanities, a soaking tub and a rain shower along with Byredo products. There is an espresso in the minibar along with a fully stacked minibar with reasonably priced mini-bottles of wine along with some snacks and other beverages. Water is included in the room.

The decor in the room is beautiful, with every room having a selection of books and sculptures related to Egypt on lit up shelving. The King bed was comfortable and features the usual Four Seasons sheets.

The balcony was our favorite part of the room to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening overlooking the Nile and the stunning sunset.

Overall, this room would be a 5 star room. However, given that not all the rooms and suites are updated yet, we could not generally rate them 5 stars. The older rooms are much darker, with almost green-tinted lighting and dingy carpets. Once all the rooms and suites are upgraded, this property’s style and rooms will be a complete 5 star experience.

Service: 3/5

Most of the luxury hotels in Cairo cater heavily to group tours and cruises, with different companies contracting different hotels for 1-2 nights on either side of the tour. While I was ecstatic to learn that the Four Seasons is where we would be staying on our tour, this type of contracting can make for a less ideal service experience. The hotel definitely caters significantly more to these tours and tries to move guests through their 1-2 nights and get the next guests in. Similar to our check-in experience, the service experience in general starts to feel more clinical when that’s how they operate. At most Four Seasons we have been to around the world, there is such an emphasis on the guest experience and having every moment be perfect that it is disappointing to experience a more clinical or cold approach.

Apart from the general service attitude, we also felt staff training would be a long way. There were some standout employees who we spoke with who we learned had worked at other Four Seasons around the world. There were others who either forgot orders or didn’t seem to understand what was available at the restaurants and it made for a frustrating experience. The inconsistency in personnel caused moments of mediocre service and we do hope that with better staff training from the more experienced team members that they will be able to uplevel their service across the board.

They do offer housekeeping and turndown daily, which we absolutely loved. They wrapped our electronics cords every night and left little amenities – we found ourselves leaving things out to see what they would do and sure enough, they brought glasses cleaning clothes galore.

Dining: 4/5

Four Seasons Nile Plaza has 10 restaurants and bars onsite so there is certainly a lot of variety. We had the chance to try 4 of their venues across our 4 total days on property:

Zitouni: this is the all day dining restaurant that offers buffet-style food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had breakfast here as well as one dinner and overall the food is good. I stuck mostly with the fresh made to order items like grilled chicken for dinner or omlettes for breakfast. They do offer a gluten free corner as well. They have a wide selection of healthy and heartier options.

La Galerie: this is the lobby bar and bites dining outlet. They have a selection of sandwiches, salads, sushi and appetizers as well as an extensive bar menu. We typically had a late lunch here and it’s a popular place for cocktails or tea. The sandwiches were quite large and definitely shareable if you are looking for something light.

Riviera: this is the Italian restaurant that offers white-tablecloth service and is one of their premium options. While most of our group enjoyed the food, I recommend sticking with meat and vegetable options as multiple people in our party ordered seabass and became very ill. As with most places in the world, I typically recommend ordering food that’s most native to the region unless you can ensure it’s been transported properly.

8: 8 is the Chinese restaurant and has a fantastic selection of food in a beautiful setting. This was by far our favorite outlet and the foo was fantastic. We ordered a number of dishes to share and it was more than enough food for our party.

Facilities: 5/5

Four Seasons offers an impressive selection of facilities for a hotel located in the heart of a city. The wellness area features a spa, indoor heated pool as well as an exterior pool with ample sun chairs and poolside service. There is an excellent fitness center and a steam and sauna as well.

The hotel also has direct access to a department store/mall that features both international and local designers. There is a small cafe located inside the department store as well.

There are 10 restaurants and bars as noted above, making it easy to stay within the hotel if you prefer to not leave for meals or excursions.

If you are visiting the hotel without an organized group tour, the hotel does offer a variety of excursions that start at around $195 per person.

Style: 4.5/5

Overall, the style (particularly the newly renovated areas) is stunning. Light tones, personalized decor and furnishings that feel luxurious and textured and beautiful lighting make the renovated rooms and restaurants elegant and rich. They are in the middle of a long-term renovation so the areas that are not yet updated feel a bit out of touch or out of style and stand out against the rich cream and blue tones of the rest of the property as it stands today.

Overall: 4.3/5

Overall, we had a pleasant stay before and after our cruise at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza. While we did have higher expectations for the service, the quality of the rooms, excellent facilities and wonderful location make this a fantastic choice for your stop in Cairo.
