You & Me Maldives

You & Me has been on our list for many years because it appeared to offer incredible value, even in peak high season and features an incredible, natural island and rustic villas. As an adults-only property, we were very intrigued to see what it has to offer. We were delighted to have the chance to visit on our last trip to the Maldives and it did not disappoint! Read on to find out everything you need to know before you book.

Location: 5/5

You & Me is located in the stunning Raa Atoll, a hotel-rich atoll that offers a perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. You & Me is a scenic 45-minute seaplane journey from Velana International Airport. The best part of the journey is flying over tons of little islands along the way. This northern atoll is known for its vibrant marine life, and more natural island resorts compared to the more developed areas closer to Malé.

You & Me was breathtaking – with an exceptionally beautiful beach with powder-soft white sand that surrounds the natural, lush island. While they don’t have a true house reef, there are snorkeling spots located near the Spa buildings that were pretty solid. Regardless of the lack of true house reef, there was an abundance of marine life, including colorful reef fish, rays, and occasional reef sharks. The lagoon’s gentle waters create perfect conditions for swimming and water activities, while the strategic location in Raa Atoll means guests can enjoy spectacular sunsets and stargazing in the evenings, far from light pollution and the hustle Malé.

A unique feature of this resort is that 90% of the structures are located along the outer edge of the beach, including the 99 overwater villas. This means you spend most of your time walking around the beachfront, versus the middle of the island. It’s a really lovely and unusual experience to not always cut through the middle of the island and makes the dining outlets feel very accessible and cohesive.

Lobby & Check in experience: 4.5/5

Lobby and Check in technically starts when you land at Velana International Airport when you are greeted by hotel representatives holding the Cocoon/You & Me sign. We arrived from another property so we were greeted at the seaplane terminal by the Cocoon representatives and escorted to the seaplane check in and Cocoon lounge. As a note, the Cocoon lounge does not have a private restroom – you do have to access the public restroom down the hall. For guests who arrive at the arrivals terminal, you will be taken to a shared van to be transferred to the Cocoon lounge in the Seaplane terminal (5 minute drive).

Our wait was about an hour before we headed to the seaplane for our quick 45-minute flight to You & Me. On arrival at the jetty, we were greeted with a very special “King & Queen” ceremony complete with a procession, music and a flower crown. It was a very elaborate experience and the only note I have here is that this is not a standard experience and the other people who were on our flight did not receive the same treatment which did make me feel pretty guilty given they were on their honeymoon.

In the open-air lobby, we received a glass of sparkling wine and were checked into our room. We met our butler who took us on a quick tour of the island before showing us to our beautiful Lagoon Suite with Pool (formerly the Dolphin Villa with Pool).

Rooms: 4/5

There are 109 villas at You & Me, with 99 of them being overwater, which is a really unique experience. The lowest tier villa is the Lagoon Villa which shares a wall with another Lagoon Villa and face in towards the island. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous are a great entry level room in the Maldives.

We stayed in the Lagoon Suite with Pool (508) and it was absolutely beautiful. The villa featured a spacious, open-plan design with a rustic-chic aesthetic that perfectly complemented the natural surroundings. The wooden elements throughout gave it a warm, authentic feel while still maintaining all modern amenities you’d expect at a luxury property. The highlight was undoubtedly the infinity pool that seemed to merge with the turquoise lagoon beyond, creating a seamless connection with the ocean. While the curtains and artwork were… “unique”, they are doing some renovations to the resort to swap out the animal paintings for some more neutral, high end designs.

The bed was positioned to maximize the incredible views overlooking the pool, with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that opened directly onto the deck. I particularly loved the spacious bathroom with the shower that has direct access to the patio. The villa offered complete privacy while maintaining direct access to the lagoon via steps from our private deck.

It’s worth noting that the resort is currently undergoing some soft renovations to enhance the guest experience. During our stay, they were in the process of replacing the artwork and curtains in the villas to give them a more contemporary feel while still maintaining the rustic charm that makes You & Me special. These upgrades will certainly elevate the accommodations and bring it more in line with a more up-to-date luxury aesthetic.

The attention to detail was evident throughout the villa – from the comfortable king-sized bed to the thoughtful welcome amenities. While the design leans toward the rustic side compared to some of the ultra-modern Maldivian resorts, this authentic approach is part of the property’s unique charm and creates a more relaxed, barefoot luxury atmosphere that we really appreciated. It reminded us somewhat of Soneva at a better price point, with natural wood designs.

They do also have the Aqua Suites which are a bit larger with larger livings pace, free standing tubs in the bathrooms and tney are generally more spacious. They have the Aqua Suites with slides or with pools. If I were to book again, I would have loved the Aqua Suite with a Pool if the budget was permitting thanks to the extra space it afforded.

They only have 10 beach suites available and these are gorgeous as well with small plunge pools that afford a lot of privacy and the villas are tucked between the trees. These would be a great option if you are looking to experience both a beach villa + an overwater villa.

Here are some examples of the art they are swapping out:

Service: 4/5

Overall, service was good across the resort. Staff were always eager to help, whether it was housekeeping, dining or the activities teams. We communicated primarily with our butler via Whatsapp and he was always super responsive and helpful.

You & Me has twice-daily housekeeping and while not always super consistent, was generally well done and organized. THey always came when we were out of the room which was great.

We communicated mostly with the dining staff, who were extremely helpful, remembered our names and preferences and generally wanted everyone to have a wonderful time. They also did cute things like decorate the table on your last night, for special celebrations or for new guests. The property feels small and boutique, making the experience of getting to know staff very easy and fun.

Dining: 4.5/5

The resort features 4 a la carte dining venues included in the Premium All Inclusive plan as well as the underwater restaurant H20 that is not included on the meal plan. They also feature the main bar, Cheers, as well as a smaller beach bar on the quiet beach. The hotel is also planning on opening an all day dining venue with takeaway as well as a sushi bar.

The Sand is the main restaurant on the island that is open for breakfast and dinner. As the name suggests, the floor is entirely sand and it’s a beautiful, open-air restaurant right on the beach. For breakfast, they have an a la carte menu as well as buffet items for daily specials, fruit & pastries and dessert. For dinner, they offer an a la carte menu as well with some evenings have special buffet options like Sushi night (that was just ok).

Green Carpet is one of the lunch options available, located behind the pool and aptly named thanks to the green turf the restaurant sits on. This is an a la carte restaurant with a delicious selection of sandwiches, meat and fish, salads, ceviches and more. We absolutely loved the fresh flavors and portion sizes. You can order as much or as little as you want without restriction and they also offer phenomenal cocktails.

Rising Sun is the teppanyaki restaurant on the beach. It’s an open air pagoda and is open for lunch and dinner. The teppanyaki is also included in the all inclusive and offers a nice assortment of flavors and menus. They do have a few upsells like Lobster and Wagyu available. We had a very enjoyable lunch at Rising Sun!

La Pasta is the traditional Italian restaurant located on the beach. It is also open for lunch and dinner and features a truly delicious assortment of pizzas, pastas, meat & fish dishes and appetizers. We tried a number of delicacies including the pasta, salad, some appetizers, chicken milanese and the tiramisu. The tiramisu comes in a cool little kettle, which we felt was a nice presentation and it was very good.

Cheers Bar is the main bar on property and is the hub for the nightly entertainment as well as a nice covered place to grab a drink during the day. It’s located next to the main pool and has comfortable lounge seating and great cocktails and beverages.

There is a small beach bar located on the small Quiet Beach area on the other side of the jetty and they do have some beverages included in the all-inclusive as well as some paid options as well.

H20 is the underwater restaurant at You & Me. It’s a beautiful restaurant set off the main island and is only accessible by boat. Dining here is subject to a charge ($200 for lunch, $280 for dinner per person). You can also choose to dine at the end cap table under the semi circle glass ceiling for an additional $50 per person. These prices exclude any beverages and the all inclusive menu does not apply here so I would expect to spend around $800 total for dinner. It is a michelin-inspired experience and a very unique feature of the resort. While we did not have the chance to dine here, we have heard good things from previous guests who went for lunch and dinner.

You & Me is fully converting a premium all inclusive ONLY option at the end of this year, which is great news for travelers since it minimizes confusing meal plans or bizarre upsells that seem unnecessary. They’re also adding an additional dining outlet which is an all-day dining option with takeaway and a sushi bar.

Facilities: 4.5/5

You & Me has an impressive range of activities and facilities on property that make for a very well-rounded vacation.

The Main Pool is the central part of the property for most of the day. The resort has beach service for drinks and the pool is just a stunning feature in the middle of the property. It’s designed to have semi-private nooks and crannies that feel very romantic.

There is also a beautiful “quiet beach” next to the jetty with comfortable loungers and drink service (though we found that to be inconsistent).

The Fitness Center at You & Me Maldives offers a comprehensive workout experience with solid equipment overlooking the turquoise waters. The gym features cardio machines, free weights, and strength training equipment. Personal training sessions are available upon request and are chargeable, but the resort also offers complimentary yoga classes on the beach during sunrise or sunset. There were not a lot of classes available during our stay in June due to the low season but we hear there are some additional fitness classes.

The Water Sports Center provides an extensive array of activities for adventure enthusiasts. Guests can enjoy complimentary non-motorized water sports including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and snorkeling equipment. For those looking for some more options, motorized options like jet skiing, wakeboarding, and tube rides are available for an additional fee.

You & Me offers a variety of Excursion such as diving and boat tours. Popular options include sunset dolphin cruises where guests can see spinner dolphins jump alongside the boat, traditional Maldivian island hopping tours to experience local culture, and big game fishing expeditions. For underwater enthusiasts, the resort arranges diving trips to nearby reefs and marine protected areas with PADI-certified instructors. A highlight is the “Sandbank Picnic” where guests are transported to a private sandbank for a romantic lunch surrounded by nothing but turquoise waters—truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Elizabeth Arden Spa at You & Me, situated over the lagoon, offers a beautiful sanctuary. Treatment rooms feature glass floors, allowing guests to observe marine life while enjoying their services. The spa menu includes a comprehensive range of therapies, from traditional Maldivian treatments utilizing local ingredients to international massage techniques and beauty services. Their signature “Ocean Harmony” couples massage is particularly popular among honeymooners, combining aromatherapy and rhythmic techniques inspired by ocean waves at sunset on the overwater jetty. They do offer a lot of discounts for the spa, particular for morning bookings so be sure to walk by the spa and check out the deals before you commit to booking a treatment.

There is nightly Entertainment at You & Me in Cheers Bar. While the quality definitely varied, there are some fun activities like a DJ and a belly dancing show. The resort hosts themed nights including Maldivian cultural performances featuring traditional “Boduberu” drumming and dancing, live music sessions at the Cheers Bar, and beach movie nights under the stars. Weekly events include sunset cocktail parties, DJ nights, and beach barbecues. They do rotate entertainment every 6 months so the activities range but it’s a fun post-dinner experience to enjoy the beach under some candlelight with a cocktail.

Style: 4/5

You & Me is very rustic in its style and they are making some nice upgrade to the property to update it to a more neutral aesthetic, versus the more childish animal prints and older designs of the past. They’ve renamed all their villas emphasizing this change (i.e Dolphin Villa —> Lagoon Suite). We’re excited about these updates as it will open their market to way more travelers looking for a high-end style that is still rustic and beach-chic.

We love the layout of the property, where all the restaurants are accessible from the beachfront, making it a really nice and accessible experience to feel like you’re wandering along a bustling restaurant row.

Overall: 4.4/5

Overall, we absolutely loved You & Me. The property was stunning, the beach was naturally walkable and beautiful and the a la carte dining inclusions were phenomenal. This is truly one of the best values in the Maldives. If you’re looking for an inclusive experience that focuses heavily on the quality of the food in an adults-only, relaxing environment, this may be the property for you.
